Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) — Speaking Up for Abused and Neglected Children

There are vulnerable children in Autauga County who are attending court hearings, adjusting to new homes and navigating the child welfare system every day. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for the best interests of these children.

Our goal is to provide a dedicated CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child to give them a voice and help them thrive in a safe and loving home. Together We Will achieve that goal.

❤️These are the children and families who need CASA volunteers. They need people to listen and fight for the services that can make a difference. Call now to get more information! (334) 610-5962I've got some Trauma Mama friends who are really living on the edge of sanity right now. I need you to pray please.

Friends...I've done biological parenting, step parenting, adoptive parenting, foster parenting, special needs parenting, medical needs parenting and grandparenting now, and I am going to say this....

There is NO kind of tired like "I took this child into my home and I think I made a mistake because I am not enough" kind of tired. It's the "Nothing is working and we've been trying for years" kind of tired. "We've seen a therapist every day this week and no one has any answers" kind of tired. Trauma can suck all the joy out of parenting. It really can. It's exhausting and overwhelming and relentless.

I hear parents of biological children trying to relate when a Trauma Mama spills her tears and frustration about what's going on in her household. They tell stories about their own child's meltdown and difficult behaviors. I'm guilty of doing it myself....but I was WRONG.

You can't relate. It's not the same. It is NOT the same. You cannot imagine. Trauma and attachment issues are next level. Don't even. Don't think you can because you really can't.

So ...if you have an adoptive or foster family in your life who is struggling and sending up the white flag, please offer real help. Not advice.

These families are walking through fire on faith. There is often zero evidence that anything will ever get better. Better doesn't always happen. Faith is it. Hope is it.

Acknowledge that you don't understand. Show up with a meal (and ignore the screaming and mess when you arrive). Offer to bring the kids home from practice as often as possible. Babysit. Understand that how a child acts around you is NOT how they act when it's just mom and dad. That's how trauma works. And don't call parents who are struggling like this "saints" because that makes it worse somehow. They feel like failures. They didnt get into this for sainthood. They got into this to be a mom and a dad to a child who needed parents. They just need people to come along side them on the journey and say...we are here for you. Not to advise and not to judge. Just to help you make it through. Have a cookie and a good cry. Call me if you need me to take them away for an hour or two.

And pray and pray and pray.
