Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) — Speaking Up for Abused and Neglected Children

There are vulnerable children in Autauga County who are attending court hearings, adjusting to new homes and navigating the child welfare system every day. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for the best interests of these children.

Our goal is to provide a dedicated CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child to give them a voice and help them thrive in a safe and loving home. Together We Will achieve that goal.

Autauga County CASA

The sfollowing story is shared from a sister CASA program in another part of Alabama. CASA of Autauga County has children like “Luke” who need volunteers who stand in the gap like “Mrs. Sharon”. Call today to find out how you can become a volunteer! (334)610- 5962

This little guy has spent a lot of time growing up in foster care. Though he’s finally in a wonderful home that is on track to keep him forever, the “system” has essentially been his family for a couple years. So, when it came time for Grandparent’s Day at school, Luke needed a “grandparent” like all the other children. Except Luke’s life hasn’t been like all the other children.

A grandparent must be defined as someone consistent; someone who will fight for you. Someone who turns the other cheek when you have that third piece of candy, but teaches you values along the way. A grandparent is someone who never gives up on you; it’s someone who is concerned how well you’re really brushing your teeth. A grandparent is someone that aways shows up; it’s someone that you can count on. A grandparent does hard things with you; a grandparent mourns with you, wishes with you, and dreams with you.

On Grandparents Day, at two precious foster parent’s and an even sweeter little boy’s request, one CASA blended in with all the Grannys, Mimis, Nanas, and Lovies in this elementary school for a little guy who recognized that his life may not always have had people filling traditional roles, but it has had consistency. It has had someone who has never left him, and that person is a CASA volunt… errrr, grandparent today.

Thanks to judges who continuously believe in what we do, donors, board members, associates, attorneys, social workers, and staff members like Cynthia Shaw Brown that lead wonderful advocates like Sharon Morgan Finch, we can make the difference.
